Use a four-part prompt
Start with the preservation clause, state the main change, describe the visual treatment, and finish with constraints or review criteria.
- Preserve: subject, composition, identity, geometry, or product details
- Change: one primary attribute or task
- Treat: medium, lighting, palette, camera, or atmosphere
- Constrain: elements to avoid changing
Be specific without becoming contradictory
Concrete nouns, spatial relationships, light direction, and material descriptions are useful. Conflicting instructions such as ‘locked camera’ and ‘dramatic new angle’ make the desired result harder to infer.
Iterate from the original
When preservation matters, compare each output with the original and begin a new branch from the original source rather than repeatedly editing an already changed result. Record prompts that produced stable outcomes.
